Oskar Lindqvist was operations director at a Northern European container terminal. Selma Karadag was a software engineer who had spent six years building scheduling systems for a major airline group. They met when Oskar’s terminal contracted Selma’s employer to find out why berth utilisation kept stalling at 73%.
The engagement found that the terminal operating system, the customs gateway, the rail-link scheduler, and the vessel agency platform did not share a single source of truth for “vessel arrival time”. Each maintained its own, and each was internally consistent. The terminal was, in effect, running four parallel ports.
Anchora is the company we wished existed at the time. We do not replace those systems. We ingest, normalise, write back, and arbitrate when they disagree. Our first customer was Oskar’s old terminal in Gothenburg. Our second was the Port of Piraeus.
How we work
If a terminal is happy with its TOS, that is not a problem to be solved. The problem is that four systems disagree.
